Our Part

When Bobby Comes Back

Sunday Feb 3/18

Edinburgh

My darling Mother, Father + Carrie

Just a few lines dears to let you know that at last Murray and I have managed to reach Scotland. We left camp Friday morning and arrived in London about 11:30 AM. We had quite a good day in London but to tell you the honest truth London is too large for my liking. All those thousands of people and never knowing a soul has a dreaded tendency of making a person home sick.

We left London at 10:30 PM and arrived here at 8:30 AM Sat. and believe me dears it was some trip, in the first place the train was crowded and in the second we nearly froze, outside of that it was all right. A little incident occurred on the train that made me think of home and mother and made me real down home sick. A couple of soldiers were in our couch who just came over on pass from France. They were both Scotch. One had been there a year and the other 18 months. They were going home on their pass and their mothers did not know they were coming. Kind of a surprise party and they were so tickled about it. It just made me think of that last leave from Camp Borden and I told them not to leave their hats under the hall rack or it would give the game away.

Well dears this is certainly a beautiful city but nothing can compare with little old London Ont and 398 Princess Ave. We are staying just off Princess St. here and I wish I could close my eyes and imagine myself back in God’s country. I do not know whether I mentioned in my last letter that I received the cable all right at Camp Bordon that Carrie sent and believe me dears that is the only thing that made this little trip possible. Murray is sitting at the next table writing also. I wish you could all see some of the beautiful sights we have seen but believe me dear, what we have seen and done here does not make up for what we have missed, our home + sweethearts and it will be a wonderful day to me dears when Bobby comes back home. I am very proud of the pictures of the Bungalow and have got them all dog eared all ready from looking at them.

Remember me to all dears with best love.
