My darling Mother, Father + Carrie.
Arrived back here yesterday from Mychett and there was such a lovely letter waiting here for me from home. I would march that old fourteen miles again for another just like it.
I certainly had a busy time at Mychette, I had 43 men in one hut and believe me it kept me stepping all the time. I was only able to get out Thursday night. I went to Aldershott and saw a pretty good show at the Hypedrome. We had a good week of it though on my gun. Out of 24 men firing I had fine possibles and the average score made was 92 out of 100 so you can see by that, that we have some A1 machine gunners.
I arrived back here Sat. AM and after doing a 14 miles march in the morning I walked down to Godalming in the rain to see a Rugby match. It was a dandy match, I enjoyed it fine. After the match I went to the baths and had a 3/9 D. supper then walked back to camp again, making in all about 23 miles I had walked or marched Sat. and when I got back to camp I was not even tired “enough said about how I am feeling”. Murray is also feeling fine.
They have taken a list of passes names in the battalion orderly room of all men who have not had free transportation and Murray and my name were down on the list so we might yet get our pass to Scotland.
Well dears surely by now I can hope you have left the three rooms behind and are happy in the new home. Well all I can say dears is that I am glad everything is going along so well and I am sure we will all be healthier and less sickness.
Well dears there is not very much more I can say.
Remember me to all dears with love
Bob
