Our Part

Same Old Place

Sunday September 7/17

Same old place

My darling Mother, Father + Carrie

Received a dandy letter from home, one from Carrie, several from Annabelle yesterday and I was  so glad to hear from you all at once. Canadian mail only comes in now about every three weeks and you bet you my life we appreciate them when we get them.

To-day our platoon has a pass from reveille until 10 PM to-night. Every Sunday a platoon in each company get a pass now, that makes us a Sunday off every three weeks. Murray + I got up and dressed this morning intending to go out but it is sure a punk day, raining and cold. It is now 1 PM and we are still here so I guess we will stay in now. Now if it was a case of going to see some of you I am afraid it would take more than weather conditions to hold us back.

I am awfully sorry I missed your birthdays this year dears but when I get back we’ll have to have a party to make up for all our neglect.

I hope you are all feeling fine now, it makes me feel bad to think of any of you feeling sick. I suppose the apartments are about finished now. Won’t it be dilly when we all get together there. I think some time as soon as it can be arranged. Annabelle and I will be looking around for somewhere to lay our weary heads but this is just a dream.

I was glad to hear that you were so busy and I wish I were there to help out. I see Tommy Britton quite all the time. Well to make matters short I met Herbert Waite there, we have been out a couple of times and expect to be quite chummy. He is looking fine now and it marked A again so I guess it will not be very long before he leaves here but we expect to make the best of our time while he is here.

Yesterday we went to Godalming and we introduced him to the place. We go every week for one good meal. I enjoyed the last box you sent very much. That maple butter is fine stuff.

Murray + I are feeling jake. We were inoculated again last week but it hardly bothered me at all this time.

Well dears I think I will pull the pin now. I heard from Norm Stommers + F Huddleston last week and they are ok, although they have seen some pretty tough work now lately.

I was sorry to hear Louie had been under the weather too. I often hear about Charlie Penney, he is still down at the G.O.R.D. and is feeling pretty good again I hear.

               Remember me to all dears.

Your Loving Son + Brother

               Bob
