               This is just a short note dears. We are going out on night maneuvers to-night again and I do not want to miss the mail.

               The machine gun competition came off Wednesday afternoon with the whole Battalion as spectators. We were beaten by 1 point by B Co. We came second. Their average was 83 ours 82. We are not discouraged as we think we have done good considering they are all old M.G. men about 14 months and all my team have not been at it longer than 3 months.

               On Wednesday the corporals of D. Co. went to Guildford, a night at the teather and we certainly had a good time although we had to walk home from Milford in the rain.
