Dear Mother, Father + Carrie
I will just write a few lines to-night as I wrote a long letter Thursday night. It is hard to write and tell you all as orders change so often here that one letter contradicts the other. Last Thursday when I wrote I was on a machine gun course but say morning we all, I mean by that all who came from 135th are on Musketry, Murray is taking a special course but we all think it is the same end although we are not warned for a draft, they are getting us ready so do not be surprised if you get a letter saying we are on our way. Of course I do not expect this for a couple of months. This is the way it looks to me so I thought I had better kind of pave the way. Murray is up in London to-day we both put in for weekend pass but Mur was lucky and I wasn’t, we were both disappointed but you get used to that in the army.
I was disappointed when they took me off the machine gun and it was about the first time I have had brain exercise for a long time.
I can just imagine how busy you all are and wish I were there to help you. This life over here is certainly rotten + I do not like it one bit, but I think if I had to do it all over again, I would, I am glad I am still with all my chums. I hope you are all well. I certainly look forward to that letter from home. I hope Carrie’s arms are all right now. I hope everything is all going along allright. Please do not work too hard and keep feeling well and I will try + do the same. This will be all for to-night. May god bless you all is my earnest prayer. It has been raining here all day + is nasty. We have not kilts yet and I do not expect we will be getting them now.
Remember me to all
As ever
Bob
