My dear Mother Father + Carrie

               Just received your dandy letter and was certainly delighted to hear how well everything was going along. I can ust imagine how busy you have all ben getting ready for these big events.

               I’ll bet you were all surprised at the amount of junk that was in the old cottage when you started to clean it out. I would certainly like to get those pictures of the bungalow in its course of construction.

Murray and I are both feeling fine we go 50-50 ion everything we get. But believe me we are getting low on our stores. We have not been over to Elstead for a week now and it is almost impossible to buy stuff around here so I guess we will have to go hungry over Sunday as the meals here are pretty skimpy just now. Some of the fellows here say they are going out chicken stealing some night. I hardly blame them if they can get away with it. Orders to be ready full packs steel helmets etc. for a divisional inspection by the Duke of Connaught. We waited around for about 3 hrs in the cold then marched past his knibs so fast that we could hardly see him. The parade which passed him was miles long. We got back about 2 PM and never had dinner until about 3:30. The guards are on again now and we are back in our pen. Believe me dears I will know how to appreciate that dear little home when I get back. Because I am so interested that I can hardly think of anything else. I’ll bet that is a nifty little office in the bake shop too.

               We are still in quarantine here and it is beginning to be a pretty one sided affair. We have training sheet sent down every day which we have to carry out and there certainly is not very much fun staying in very night and I will certainly be glad when quarantine is lifted.

The Canadians have certainly won a lot of praise in the fighting lately and have shown what kind of stuff they are made of. The papers are certainly looking good just now and if they keep it up I think it will be the end.
