Blue as Indigo

My dear Mother, Father + Carrie

Just received another box from home to-day containing socks, cigarettes, cake, etc. and oh they were just dilly. We are going to save those for after meal smokes and if we see any grubbers coming around we will have another kind ready for them.

Last week I had a real cinch as all as most of our new men were down to the ranges. Our company parade generally consisted of about ½ dozen N.C.O.’s so we spent most of last week reading maps, compasses, etc. and it was quite interesting.

Sat. morning we left here at 6:30 AM and marched about 10 miles. We went through Lord Perry’s estate and it is sure some dandy place.

This week I am acting company orderly seargant and I expect to be pretty busy so we are again duty battalion.

On Saturday afternoon our base ball team played the 13th brigade artillery who are the champions of this division and we won 5-3 although I will admit we were pretty lucky.

Murray and I are well and are both working pretty hard. We have not been able to get our passes and by the looks of things it doesn’t look as if we will get them. It is rumored we move on the 10th of August.

Everything is going along here pretty well. And as I feel as blue as indigo I am going to cut this short and not transfer it to you.

I hope you are all well and everything is going along jake. Please thank Mr. Reid for the tobacco he sent. Tell him it is just the kind I smoke.

               Remember me to all

                              Your loving son + Bro

                                             Bob
